REASONS FOR A LISA! STUDENT LANGUAGE TRIP TO SLIEMA:

  1. Right by the sea:
Our English courses take place right by the sea in Malta–Sliema. The seafront promenade is a few minutes’ walk away. On Malta our students can look forward to sun, beach and sea. The full LISA! leisure programme and all excursions are already included in the price.
  2. International course participants:
As one of the leading providers of student language trips in Malta, we guarantee international groups. Thanks to our advisory offices in countries such as Italy, Spain and the Scandinavian nations, pupils come from many countries to learn English with us. This makes your child’s trip not only richer and more varied, but also more intensive. With us, children learn not only English but also a great deal about other cultures and people from different countries.
  3. The lessons:
Our Malta programmes are suitable for children (12 to 13), teenagers (14 to 17) and school-leavers (18 to 20). Classes are organised by age. Friends of different ages or siblings are welcome to be taught together. Lessons are entirely in English (direct method). With this approach, even those with basic knowledge understand their teacher in English from the very first minute.
  4. Supervision:
We are loving parents ourselves and have been organising student language trips for over 30 years. The supervision of under-18s is provided by trained group leaders, host families and teachers. For students aged 18 and over, supervision and the leisure programme designed for under-18s do not apply. Distances on Malta are short and the island is safe. There are intervals, for example on the way to school, when your children are independent and not supervised. We will advise you in detail on supervision ratios.
  5. Accommodation:
Your son or daughter will stay with a friendly, English-speaking host family or in our residence. Our host families are excellent and hand-picked, and have been welcoming students for many years. On average, host families are 20 minutes on foot or 10 minutes by public transport from our school. For longer distances the school organises a shuttle service. Students living within a 30-minute walk of the school can either walk or use public transport. Weekly bus passes cost €25 per week. The residence is a 10-minute walk from our school. Our students receive full board, i.e. breakfast and a hot dinner, with packed lunches at midday. Alternatively, in Malta we offer language trips in a beach hotel with a swimming pool. This option suits pupils who would like to spend their study holiday in a hotel by the beach and pool.
  6. Family language courses:
On the family course, parents can accompany their children – or children their parents. More information can be found here: family language courses in Malta – Sliema
  7. Course dates:
We offer numerous start dates in the school holidays (see calendar) in March, April, June, July, August and October. Our course structure caters for different age and interest groups and generally sets arrival and departure days on Sundays or Saturdays.
  8. Free internet connection (Wi-Fi):
Fast, free Wi-Fi is available to our students throughout the school grounds.
  9. Learning success and objectives:
A high level of progress combined with a wonderful seaside holiday characterises our English language trips for pupils in Malta. Progress is guaranteed by a selection of the best English teachers, specially trained to teach English as a foreign language. After their trip, our A-level candidates achieve excellent grades in English. Lessons train teamwork, communication skills, problem-solving ability, analytical thinking, verbal communication and adaptability. Interpersonal skills (soft skills) that are important for later working life are also developed.
  10. Quality standards:
With over 20 years’ experience, LISA! Language Trips is among the best providers and organisations for student language trips. Our school’s quality management is certified to the DIN standard MSA EN ISO9001:2008, Reg. No. S040. We are a member of the FELTOM association and recognised by EFL and TOLES. All teachers specialise in teaching English as a foreign language.
  11. Arrival:
Flights are not included in the prices of our language courses for teenagers. We recommend flying to Malta. Please note that travel is unaccompanied. Arrivals and departures are possible at any time on Saturdays and Sundays. At the airport, your son or daughter will be warmly welcomed by our group leaders and taken to their accommodation.

Customer questions and answers::

When should I book Malta for my child?
Please book as early as you can. Popular dates are often fully booked by January for Easter and summer. Ideally, book in December for the following Easter or summer holidays. In some locations we can also arrange very late bookings. The flight is usually the tricky part. The later you book, the more expensive the ticket tends to be. Please give us a call for detailed advice.

What should I make sure not to forget?
Sun cream. Malta is a sunny island in the Mediterranean. Sun cream and a sun hat are essentials. Sunglasses are a good idea too.

Can my child manage the journey to school?
Several children usually stay with each host family. The big advantage is that they can walk to school together. The school is within walking distance of the host families. Malta is a very small, very safe island. Getting around is easy.

How much free time will my child have?
In Malta – and for example in Brighton – children have free time they can shape themselves. Group leaders may allow, for instance, two hours of shopping in groups of three after a museum visit. Parents looking for round-the-clock supervision may prefer our student language trips in England in Ardingly or Nottingham.

My child is under 12 – can he or she still take part?
In Malta we offer closely supervised language trips for pupils aged 8 to 12 (and older) at our Salina Beach seafront hotel.

How much does a language trip to Malta cost?
A two-week trip with 20 English lessons per week and full-board homestay costs £1249. The extensive leisure programme, all airport transfers, the course and the accommodation are included in the price.

Can I be in the same class as my friend/boyfriend/girlfriend/brother/sister?
Placement is based on English level and also on age. In most cases, pupils travelling together can be placed in the same class.

Do I need to bring bed linen and towels?
Bed linen and towels are provided by the host family or the hotel. We recommend taking a large towel for the beach.

Is there a placement test at the start of the trip?
Yes, there is a placement beforehand. Pupils are then placed in the appropriate level.

When do I have to pay?
On conclusion of the contract (after receipt of the booking confirmation and the security certificate), a deposit of 20% of the total price is due, at least £200, plus any insurance premiums. The remaining balance is payable 28 days before departure. Parents will find all the details on the invoice.
