FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
When should I book?
We can often accommodate last-minute bookings. However, flights are usually the main limiting factor. We recommend booking at least 2 weeks before your planned departure date.
Is Malta a good place to learn English?
Malta is one of the most effective destinations for learning English because classroom instruction, the British educational tradition and everyday island life work together seamlessly.
United Kingdom vs Malta
Language programmes in the United Kingdom offer authentic British English, a wide variety of cities and a strong language culture. Malta offers an English-speaking environment, short distances and the opportunity to learn under the Mediterranean sun.
Is there a similar programme in England?
A comparable destination in England would be a language programme in the seaside town of Brighton.
When do I have to pay?
A deposit of 20% of the total programme price is required upon booking, with a minimum payment of £200. The remaining balance must be paid 28 days before departure.
What additional costs should I expect?
Flights, personal expenses and, depending on your accommodation choice, additional nights, airport transfers or meal supplements.
What happens on the first day?
On your first day of classes, you will take a placement test and then be assigned to the most suitable language level.
Is a language programme suitable for solo travellers?
Yes. As with all our adult language programmes, most participants travel to Malta independently. Many make new friends from around the world on their very first day.
Who will I meet?
International participants from across Europe and from all age groups.
Are bed linen and towels provided?
Host families provide bed linen and towels. We recommend bringing a small additional towel. Most host families also offer laundry facilities.
When do classes take place?
Courses are available in the morning, afternoon or evening. Lessons start at 9:00 am, 1:00 pm or 5:00 pm. You may indicate a preferred schedule when booking.
Can I book the course without accommodation?
Yes. We will be happy to provide you with the course price without accommodation.
Are these programmes suitable for school students?
The information on this page is intended for adults. Information about programmes for younger learners can be found in our Malta programmes for school students.
Can I study in the same class as my travel companion?
Yes, provided that both participants have a similar level of English.
What should I not miss while in Malta?
Popular activities include dining at the Malta Beach Club, taking a grand harbour cruise in Sliema, visiting the Blue Grotto, exploring Valletta, Mdina and Rabat, and relaxing at the Sliema Beach Club.
