REASONS TO CHOOSE A YOUNG LEARNERS’ LANGUAGE COURSE IN FLORENCE

  1. Top destination:
Florence is beautiful! The city offers endless shopping opportunities with its many boutiques, shoe shops, cafés and small markets. You’ll find the best designer shops on Via Tornabuoni. On Piazza della Signoria stands a huge David – a replica of Michelangelo’s famous statue. The best view over the city is from the dome of the majestic cathedral.
  2. Supervision:
All our young learners’ language courses are supervised programmes. Supervision is provided by the host families and teachers. There are short intervals – for example on the way to school – during which students are independent. We will be happy to advise you in detail.
  3. Best location:
The LISA! language school is located in the heart of Florence, close to the magnificent cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. The quiet, listed school building is one of the most beautiful townhouses in the city. Numerous shops, excellent restaurants and inviting cafés are close by. All sights in the historic centre can be reached on foot.
  4. Accommodation:
Your son or daughter will stay with a friendly Italian-speaking host family. Students receive full board: breakfast and a hot dinner at home, and lunch at school or as a packed lunch during excursions.
  5. Leisure programme:
The extensive LISA! leisure programme is included in the price. It forms an important part of the teaching concept and contributes greatly to learning success. Together, we explore the city on a guided tour, visit beautifully decorated churches, the Boboli Gardens or see Michelangelo’s world-famous statue of David. We take a trip to the iconic Uffizi Gallery. After Italian lessons, we run a film afternoon with movies by Rossellini or Fellini – and students can even make their own films. First you write scripts in Italian, then you start filming! We visit medieval Siena, Pisa with its leaning tower or the seaside town of Viareggio. We play volleyball and football or race each other in the swimming pool. We enjoy a picnic and a big school party.
The leisure programme includes four afternoon activities and one full-day excursion per week (with a two-week stay).

  6. Learning success:
Outstanding learning progress is guaranteed. We work with highly qualified Italian teachers who are specially trained in teaching Italian as a foreign language. Lessons are held entirely in Italian.

  7. Quality standards:
Our language school is recognised by Region Tuscany – Certiquality and CSN, and is a member of ECL and EduItalia. It is also certified according to UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 no. 15180.

  8. Arrival:
Flights are not included in the prices of our language courses for teenagers. We recommend flying to Florence. Return transfers are included in the price. Although we do not provide an accompanying service for the flight itself, our friendly school team will greet all students upon arrival at the destination airport or train station and accompany them to their accommodation. Arrivals must be on Sundays between 5am and 11pm, and departures on Saturdays between 6am and 5pm. Should your child travel with the UM service, an extra transfer cost may apply. For further information, do not hesitate to contact us by telephone or e-mail.

CUSTOMER QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

When should I book Florence for my child?
Please book as early as possible. Popular course dates are often fully booked by January for Easter and summer. Ideally, you should book in December for the following Easter or summer holidays. In many destinations, we can accommodate short-notice bookings; the main bottleneck is usually flights. The later you book, the more expensive the airfare tends to be. Please call us for detailed advice.

Can my child manage the way to school?
Several students stay in each host family, which means the way to school can be walked together. The school is reachable on foot or by bus from all host families.

What does a language course in Florence cost?
A two-week language course with 20 Italian lessons per week and accommodation with a host family including full board costs £1849. The full leisure programme, all transfers, the course and accommodation are included.

Can my child be in the same class as a friend/sibling?
Placement is based on Italian level and age. Normally, it is possible for students travelling together to be placed in the same class.

Is there a placement test at the start of the course?
Yes. On the first day of school, students take a placement test and are placed in the appropriate level.

When do I have to pay?
Upon booking (after receiving the confirmation and security certificate), a deposit of 20% of the course price is due, at least £200, plus any insurance premiums. The remaining balance is payable 28 days before departure. All details can be found on the invoice.
