At our language school in New York you’ll spend exciting days in the heart of this vibrant metropolis at Times Square and, within a few weeks, learn to speak English fluently. Our courses are suitable for beginners and advanced learners alike, and participants come from all over the world.

Location & facilities:

Our language school in New York is located at Times Square in the recently refurbished Paramount skyscraper. The school is on the 14th floor.
 

All nine classrooms have just been refurbished and fitted to a high standard. Fast, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. There is a student lounge and a computer room. Our students come from all over the world. Learners of different ages and with different goals are taught here to a high standard.

Organised leisure programme:

Our friendly school team is happy to arrange joint excursions to the Statue of Liberty, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the world-famous Guggenheim Museum or the Empire State Building, with its breathtaking view of the New York skyline. A Manhattan boat tour, a walk across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge or a visit to a Broadway musical can also be organised. The school also offers tai chi or yoga in Bryant Park, plus workshops to improve pronunciation and listening.

LISA! Language courses

• Our LISA! Language courses in New York - Times Square are high-quality English courses with accommodation. Our language courses are suitable for students and professionals, both beginners and advanced speakers.

• Classes start every Monday. If the beginning day is a bank holiday, the course will start on Tuesday (see Calendar).

• During the course, your accommodation will be in a friendly host family or in a residence (see accommodation).

• The average age of participants at New York – Times Square is 25. For learners aged 30 and over we recommend our New York 30 Plus school.

English language course + cultural programme:

At our New York – Times Square school, the cultural programme lets you put what you’ve learnt in your morning lessons straight into practice in the afternoon. Together with international classmates, one lesson per week takes place, depending on the theme, in museums and galleries, at successful companies, during visits to local sports venues, or in fashionable neighbourhoods of the city. The remaining three lessons likewise focus on New York–based topics. The course is ideal for consolidating your language skills in a short time while experiencing the city. All teachers are specialised in teaching their native language, English, as a foreign language. These trips suit solo travellers, couples, and friends travelling together alike.
 

Your language course in New York - Times Square

On your first day at our language school in New York, you will be placed into an appropriately-levelled class after taking a language proficiency test. This guarantees an excellent and successful learning process. After class you’ll have plenty of free time to explore New York and its surrounding area. Our language school offers a variety of organised activities throughout the duration of the course and our team of staff at the school will be happy to advise you on the best things to see and do around New York. They can also recommend places to go shopping, where to get a coffee and the best bars and clubs. You can also choose to explore New York independently, although it won’t be difficult to find fellow English learners to go with! Practice makes perfect when it comes to learning a foreign language, so we suggest that you take every available opportunity to practice your newly-learned English with locals. Staying with a host family is the perfect way to make use of what you learn in class every day.

At our New York – Times Square school we offer the following exam preparation course: TOEFL preparation. 

Please note: 

• Participation in the exam courses requires an advanced level of English (TOEFL: B1). 

• Participation in a preparation course therefore depends on the result of the placement test before the course begins.

• The exams mainly take place in the final week of the course, so only limited teaching is usually possible then. The exam fee is always payable on site; please see the price table for details of the fee.

• Registration for the TOEFL exam is online in advance. TOEFL: The exam date must be booked online at www.ets.org/toefl/at least three months in advance.
