Four children by the sea in Malta St Julian’s on a language study holiday in Malta with LISA!

Sea, sun and english

For students, St. Julian’s feels exactly how summer in Malta should be:

  • Lively from Morning Until Night:
St Julian’s is not a quiet language programme destination. It is a place full of activity, promenade life, young people and an international summer atmosphere.

  • The Sea Is Always Close:
Between lessons, meeting points and leisure activities, the presence of the sea is everywhere. Beaches, waterfronts and swimming opportunities are a natural part of everyday life here.

  • At the Heart of the Holiday Atmosphere:
St. Julian’s feels younger, busier and more exciting to students than quieter destinations. This immediate summer feeling is exactly what makes the location so special for many participants.

For students, St Julian’s is Malta’s language programme destination with more energy, more summer lifestyle and a stronger international holiday atmosphere. Those who prefer a quieter seaside experience may choose our language programmes in Sliema instead.

Malta St Julian’s: Learn English by the Sea

Learn English where the sea, sunshine and vibrant life come together.

  • Bays Instead of Long Coastlines:
St Julian’s does not feel vast and spread out, but rather compact, accessible and diverse. Small bays, waterfronts, boats and promenades give the town its distinctive character.

  • More Urban Than Many Other Places in Malta:
St Julian’s is not a traditional seaside resort focused solely on the beach. It is a coastal town with an urban atmosphere. This combination of waterfront living and a lively town environment is exactly what makes it so appealing to students.

  • The Town Truly Comes Alive in the Evening:
As the light settles over the bay, boats gently sway in the water and the promenade fills with people, St Julian’s takes on the warm Mediterranean atmosphere that students instantly associate with summer.

St Julian’s is Malta’s language programme destination for evening sunshine, Mediterranean charm and an immediate holiday feeling. The destination is comparable to Brighton in England.

Language Travel Expert Elke Greim:

LISA! Study abroad has been owner-managed since its foundation in 1992 and has more than 30 years of experience in organising language programmes.

"I recommend Malta – St Julian’s to parents who are looking for a destination with a more international summer atmosphere, more energy and a stronger holiday feeling for their child than Sliema or San Ġwann. Students also enjoy a greater degree of independence here."

Yours sincerely,

Elke Greim

FAQ

Customer Questions and Answers (FAQ)

When should I book St Julian’s for my child?
Please book as early as possible. Popular course dates are often fully booked as early as January for the Easter and summer holidays. Ideally, you should book your child’s Language course for students in December for the upcoming Easter or summer holidays. In many destinations, we can usually accommodate last-minute bookings. However, availability is often limited when it comes to flights. The later you book, the more expensive the airfare is likely to be. Please give us a call for detailed advice — we will be happy to take the time to support you personally and answer all your questions.

What should I definitely not forget?
Sunscreen. Malta is a sunny Mediterranean island, so sunscreen and a sun hat are essential. Sunglasses are also recommended.

How much independence will my child have?
Children on a language programme in Malta are given a degree of freedom to organise their own time. Please note that there are periods during which students are not under direct supervision.

How much does a language programme in St. Julian’s cost?
A two-week summer language programme with 20 English lessons per week and accommodation in a host family with full board costs 1449 £. The extensive leisure programme, all airport transfers, the language course and accommodation are included in the programme price.

Can I share a room with my friend, girlfriend, boyfriend, brother or sister?
We are happy to arrange accommodation for friends or family members together in the same host family whenever possible.

Can my child manage the journey to school?
Several students often stay with the same host family, making it easy to travel to school together. Malta is a small and generally safe island with straightforward routes.

Is there a placement test before the course begins?
Yes. Students complete a placement assessment before the programme starts and are then assigned to the appropriate language level.

When do I have to pay?
Upon conclusion of the travel contract (after receiving the booking confirmation and financial security certificate), a deposit of 20% of the programme price is required, with a minimum payment of £200, plus any applicable insurance premiums. The remaining balance must be paid 28 days before departure. Full payment details are provided on the invoice.

Are there similar seaside language programmes in the United Kingdom?
Yes. Our junior language programmes in Brighton offer a comparable experience to Malta.

Travel Ideas

Parents who have become interested in taking a language programme themselves can find suitable options in our Malta language programmes for adults. We particularly recommend our Malta Sliema programmes for adult learners. Parents looking for an alternative junior language programme by the sea in Malta may also be interested in Salina Beach, which combines language learning with accommodation in a beach hotel featuring a swimming pool.

More detailed general information about language programmes can be found on our main information pages.
