Santa Monica offers ideal conditions for an English course in a friendly, relaxed setting, combined with the glamour of Los Angeles and the comforts of a major metropolis.

Location & facilities:

Our language school in Los Angeles – Santa Monica enjoys a prime location, just 5 minutes’ walk from the golden sandy beach. The school is in a modern building; from its large windows you can look out over the neighbourhood and downtown Santa Monica.
 

Around the school you’ll find plenty of little cafés where you can enjoy a coffee after lessons and watch the world go by or catch one of the many street performers. In the evenings, numerous clubs and bars at the pier and in Santa Monica invite you to go out. Most attractions are within easy walking distance. Downtown L.A. is only minutes away by public transport, with many world-famous sights.

Organised leisure programme:

Our friendly school team is happy to arrange guided city walks, trips to the beach, shared sports such as cycling, surfing or American football, parties, karaoke and bowling nights. For an additional charge you can book surf lessons, golf coaching or excursions to other cities such as Las Vegas, San Diego or San Francisco.

LISA! language courses:

• Our language trips start every Monday. If the start date falls on a public holiday, the course begins on Tuesday (see calendar).

• Lessons alternate between mornings and afternoons.

• During your stay you live with a host family or in a shared flat with other course participants (see Accommodation).

How your course works:

On the arrival day of your LISA! trip you reach your accommodation. On the first day at school you take a placement test so we can place you at the right level and ensure the best progress. After lessons there is plenty of time to explore the city. The school offers activities several times a week. The team will gladly suggest where to go out and shop, where to find the best coffee and which festival is on. You can, of course, explore independently as well; you’ll always find like-minded people to join you. Talking to locals is an excellent complement to lessons for reinforcing and practising what you’ve learned. Homestay has the added benefit that you can use your English straight away. When shopping and going out there are countless chances to speak English.
