At our modern language school in the heart of Cairns, our students learn in an international atmosphere and have the opportunity to put their newly acquired language skills into practice in everyday life at the many restaurants, museums, and shops in the area.

Location & Facilities

Our language school is located in the city centre. Numerous cafés, shops, restaurants, food courts, and supermarkets can all be reached quickly on foot. The seafront promenade “The Esplanade” is also only a short walk away. Our school in Cairns offers a selection of the best language teachers in Australia, a correspondingly high quality of teaching, a modern school building in the centre of the city, as well as many participants from all over the world.

Organised Leisure Programme

In the afternoons or at weekends, our school team is also delighted to organise joint pizza or barbecue evenings, salsa classes, visits to a crocodile farm, as well as karaoke or cinema evenings. In addition, our language school in Cairns offers participants the opportunity to join excursions to the rainforest, to Green Island, or to Frankland Island. Snorkelling, diving trips, and kayaking can also be booked locally for an additional fee.

LISA! Language Courses:

• ​Our language trips in Cairns start every Monday. If the course start date falls on a public holiday, the course begins on Tuesday (see the calendar).

• Our language trips in Cairns are suitable for levels from beginner (A1) to upper advanced (C1).

• Our Super-Intensive Course in Cairns is recognised as Bildungsurlaub in several federal states in Germany.

• During your language trip, you will stay either with a host family or in a shared flat (see Accommodation).

The Structure of Your Language Course:

On the day of arrival for your LISA! language trip, you will move into your accommodation. On the first day at school, you will be placed into levels according to your existing knowledge. This guarantees optimal learning success. After classes, you will still have plenty of time to explore the city. The school offers activities several times a week. The school team is happy to give advice on where to go out and shop, where to find the best coffee, and which festivals are currently taking place.

Everyone is also free to explore the destination independently. There will always be like-minded people to join you on your adventures. Interacting with locals provides an excellent opportunity to practise what you have learned and to consolidate your knowledge. Accommodation with a host family offers the advantage of being able to use your new skills straight away. Shopping and going out provide countless opportunities to speak English.

Language Diplomas

At our language school in Cairns, we offer the following exam preparation courses: preparation for the Cambridge Certificate (FCE, CAE) and for IELTS.

Please note:

• Participation in the exam courses requires an advanced language level (IELTS: B2; FCE: B1; CAE: B2). Admission to a preparation course therefore depends on the result of the placement test before the course begins.

• The exams usually take place in the final week of the course. Therefore, only limited teaching is possible during this time.

• Registration for the IELTS examination must be done online in advance! Further information and the registration form can be found at www.ielts.org.

• The examination fee must always be paid on site. Please see the price table for information on the examination fee.

• Note for the Cambridge Certificates: The dates of the written examinations (Papers 1–3) can also be found in the table. Experience shows that the oral examinations (Papers 4–5) take place no later than one week after the end of the course. Therefore, the total prices of the exam courses usually include about one extra week of accommodation. However, dates may be subject to change. We therefore recommend booking a rebookable flight.
