Margate is a lovely resort with golden, sandy beaches situated in Kent, on the south-east coast of England. It is a small and friendly town, an ideal place in which to both study and relax, with one of the driest and warmest climates in Britain. The beautiful countryside, famous for its apple and cherry orchards and picturesque villages, gives the region its name ‘The Garden of England’.
The historic cities of Canterbury and Dover are only 25 kilometres away from Margate. A weekend trip to France is also recommended.
The school
Our school is a friendly, family-run school situated in the heart of the town opposite a small park. The beach is within walking distance. All classrooms are bright and welcoming. The school offers a language lab, a small library, an internet café as well as a club area with TV and DVD.
All tutors are highly qualified. Our school is ideal for students who want to learn English and spend their holidays in a seaside resort.

Sightseeing in Margate
Margate has a beautiful sandy beach.
Among Margate’s biggest attractions you will find the Margate Caves,
which, in the past, were used as a prison as well as a hiding place for
smugglers or a secret place of worship.
We also recommend a visit to Margate’s Shell Grotto, a network
of caves with a magnificent mosaic which is around 2000 – 3000
years old.
Our school also offers excursions to London, Cambridge and Oxford.
Accommodation
Family: Single room (SR) with half board (HB) (full board at weekends). Ensuite can be arranged at an extra price. Average distance to the school: 15 minutes on foot.
Residence 1: Single (SR) or double room (DR) with shared
bath / WC and kitchen. Lounge and WiFi. The residence is near
the school.
DR I: Double room with two single beds.
DR II: Double room
with a double bed and a small kitchen.
Double rooms can only be booked
by 2 people booking and travelling together.

Exam Courses
At our language school in Margate, we offer the following exam preparation courses: preparation for the IELTS exam.
Please note:
- You can only take the IELTS course in Margate if your English is at an intermediate level (B1) or above. Enrolment on a preparation course is therefore subject to a grading test before the course begins.
- The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week.
- You must pay the exam fee while in Margate. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost

Travel
We recommend that you book a flight to London. Single transfer from Stansted and Gatwick is included in the price with a minimum stay of 3 weeks. From London Heathrow you will need to take 2 buses to get to Margate. It takes around 2 and a half hours and the cost of a return ticket is around 30 pounds.
