You will find Vancouver a hospitable and exciting city with a mild climate year round.
In
Stanley Park, the biggest inner-city park in Canada, you can go jogging, skating or biking on one of the tours though the park. Beach volleyball, kayaking, rafting and canoeing are popular activities along the Capilano and Seymor Rivers. Meet people, drink a coffee or go for a meal in one of the excellent
restaurants in the city centre, and in the evening, why not go to one of the pubs, night cafes
or clubs and listen to some live music.
From the beginning of December until the end of April, it is Winter season in the city and surrounding mountains. Go skiing or snowboarding over beautiful powdery snow in the North Shore Mountains, which are just half an hour away from the city centre. Here, we recommend mountain biking along the legendary North Shore Trail. This year, Vancouver hosted the Olympic Winter Games.
Our school team organises excursions to the Rockies, Seattle, canoeing
trips, beach parties, pub nights, etc.

Our modern school is situated in the heart of town. It is one of the
leading language centres in Vancouver. Course participants are from international
backgrounds. The school has an excellent reputation around the world.
Our school team consists of some of the best tutors in Canada and all
the staff will make you feel welcome and at home in Vancouver. The school
teaches students of business, law and management studies, and is only a few minutes from the beach.
The school has 16 inviting classrooms, a small kitchen and a computer cluster with internet access.

Sightseeing in Vancouver
Vancouver is one of the most beautiful towns on the Pacific coast and
is an ideal location for water sports and mountaineering. Vancouver
unites skyscrapers and large parks, with the Coast Mountains offering a multitude
of leisure options on your doorstep.
The UBC Museum of Anthropology takes you into the culture of the Indian
tribes. Modern art is presented in various galleries and festivals.
We recommend a visit to Chinatown with its hundreds of small shops. As
soon as you enter the gate to Chinatown, you will find yourself in a
different world, full of Asian shops and gardens. The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is an oasis of calm, with its small pool and temple. The smallest building in
Chinatown, the Sam Kee Building, is only 1.80 metres wide.
Gastown is an example of successful town planning. The harbour area,
which was once run down, is now home to restaurants, boutiques and souvenir
shops. Granvill Island is another recommendation for souvenirs.
Vancouver’s shopping area around Tobson Street has modern trendy
shops where you will find fashion, cosmetics and shoes.
We recommend you start your night out with a drink in one of the pubs, then dine in a restaurant and afterwards visit a show or theatre performance. To finish off the night, you can dance in one of the clubs until the early hours of the morning. BaBaLu is the most popular dance bar, offering live bands and DJs from Tuesday through Thursday. Check out what’s on in the Georgia Straight paper which is free in cafés and pubs.
Accommodation
Family: Double room (DR) or single room (SR) with breakfast (B&B), half board (HB) or full board (FB). Average distance to the school: 40 minutes by public transport. Double rooms can only be booked by two people booking and travelling togheter.
Hostel: Single room (SR) or Dormitory (D) (sleeps 4 people) with shared kitchen and bathroom. Party no end! Distance to the school: 20 minutes on foot or 15 minutes by public transport. Minimum age: 19 years old.

Exam Courses
At our language school in Vancouver, we offer the following exam preparation courses: Preparation for the Cambridge Certificate (FCE, CAE, CPE), as well as for TOEFL, TOEIC and IELTS.
Please note:
- You must have at least an intermediate level (B1) to take the following courses (FCE: B1; CAE: C1; CPE: C2; IELTS: B1; TOEFL: C1; TOEIC: C1).
- Enrolment onto the course is subject to a grading test before the course starts.
- The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week.
- You can register for the TOEFL, TOEIC and IELTS exams in advance on the internet.
IELTS: Exam registration should be completed a few weeks beforehand at www.ielts.org, where you can find the application form as well as further information.
TOEFL: Examinations must be booked online and 3 months in advance at www.ets.org/toefl
TOEIC: Exam registration must be completed at least 3 weeks beforehand at www.ets.org/toiec - Important notice! You must register personally for the Cambridge Certificate exam at the latest 12 weeks before the exam as registration within 12 weeks of the exam date will not guarantee the desired exam date and it also costs more.
- You must pay the exam fee while in Vancouver. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost.
- Cambridge Certificates: You will find the dates of the written papers (papers 1-3) in the table. According to past experience, the oral exams (papers 4-5) can take place up to a week after the end of the course, which is why the prices may include an extra week’s accommodation. As it is possible that the dates may be postponed, we recommend that you opt for a flexible flight reservation.
