La Jolla – one of the finest, cleanest and most popular districts of San Diego – is located only a few miles from the city centre. La Jolla is Spanish and means “The Jewel”. The numerous bays and their fine sandy beaches, which surround La Jolla, offer an amazing view over the blue Pacific Ocean with its ideal surfing conditions. If you want to learn how to surf, then this is the place for you. La Jolla also offers many possibilities to go shopping. If you want to go out at night, have a look around “Prospect Street” or “Girard Avenue”. Typical American mansions and the best restaurants can also be found in this area. Downtown, the Gas lamp Quarter and East Village are only a few minutes journey by car, you can spend the night in one of the inviting bars or later in one of the nightclubs such as “Stingagree”, which is a bar, a restaurant and a nightclub at the same time. It’s furthermore the place to be for San Diego’s rich and famous.

Our school is located in a modern building in La Jolla, a trendy district of San Diego with many boutiques and the beach just around the corner. The school has 23 classrooms, most of them directly face the Pacific Ocean. The school also provides a computer lab as well as a lounge and a library. The large balcony offers a beautiful view over the ocean! All of our language teachers are specialised in teaching English as a foreign language. It’s a perfect atmosphere to learn English!
English and Surfing
Our school offers students the possibility to take professional surfing classes right after their language course. You can choose between group classes or one-to-one classes. It works best to combine your surfing lessons with the standard course, as language classes take place only in the mornings. The afternoons will be free for your surfing classes. Surfing classes take place from Monday to Friday. Each lesson lasts 2 hours. The surfboard and the wet suit will be provided by the surfing school, the rental is already included in the price.

Sightseeing in San Diego Beach
The beaches in La Jolla are very clean and never over-crowded; you can go sun-bathing and swimming right after your language classes. La Jolla is a surfer’s paradise, due to the mild climate all year round and the ideal location by the ocean.
We highly recommend a visit to SeaWorld, an amusement park with many attractions and marine animals. You can watch polar bears, sea lions and whales. In the San Diego Wild Animal Park you have the chance to see African animals, such as antelopes, elephants, rhinos and gorillas.
La Jolla accommodates exclusive boutiques for great shopping trips as well as the famous gulf course “Torrey Pines”. The main attraction of La Jolla, which you should not miss, is the rugged coastline and the stunning beaches.
Los Angeles is only about 130 kilometres away. Within 2 hours you can reach the Californian city, where more attractions and sights are waiting for you!

Exam Courses
At our language school in San Diego Beach, we offer the following exam preparation courses: Preparation for the Cambridge Certificate (FCE, CAE, CPE):
Please note:
- You can only take this courses if your English is at a lower intermediate level (FCE: B2; CAE: C1; CPE: B1). Enrolment onto the preparation course is subject to a grading test before the course starts.
- The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week.
- You must pay the exam fee while in San Diego. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost.
- Cambridge Certificates: You will find dates of the written papers (papers 1-3) in the table. According to our previous experience, we have found that the oral exams (papers 4-5) mostly take place a week after the end of the course. which is why the prices may include an extra week’s accommodation. As it is possible that the dates may be postponed, we recommend that you opt for a flexible flight reservation.
