Our school is located in the heart of Manhattan inside the famous Empire State Building. The centre has 17 well-equipped, modern and air-conditioned classrooms as well as a student lounge and a computer room. Tuition is of a very high quality and suitable for adults of all ages and professions.

Sightseeing in New York
New York – the city that never sleeps!
We recommend that you start your sightseeing tour in Manhattan with the Empire
State Building, Brooklyn Bridge and Ground Zero which is now home to
a memorial for the victims of the September 11th atrocities.
Brooklyn Bridge is one of the most famous bridges in the world, it joins
Manhattan and Brooklyn. From the bridge, you will have a perfect view
on the skyline of Manhattan. The Empire State Building is one of the
most famous attractions in New York and from its 102nd floor, you will
have a view of the city and over 60 miles of its surroundings.
We recommend a visit to the Metropole Museum, America’s largest
museum which displays art from Egyptian times as well as contemporary art.
Central Park is New York’s most famous park, It stretches from
Manhattan to Harlem and has several lakes as well as a zoo and a restaurant.
An ideal place to slow down and recover from the busy city.
New York’s nightlife has something for everybody: countless bars,
cafes, clubs and discos. The night begins at 5 p.m., so be prepared
for a long night out!
Accommodation
Family: Double room (DR) or single room (SR) with breakfast (B&B) or half board (HB). Average distance from the school: 45 minutes by public transport.
Residence 1 (Kolping): This is a male-only residence in Manhattan Upper East Side. Accommodation in single rooms (SR) with breakfast (B&B) from Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday are self-catering. Shared bath / WC but no cooking facilities. Average distance from the school: 25 minutes by public transport.
Residence 2 (Brandon): This is a female-only residence near Central Park. Single room (SR) with half board (HB). Shared bathroom / WC and shared kitchen. Internet access is available. Average distance from the school: 25 minutes by public transport.

Residence 3 (New Yorker): This is a residence for males and females near Madison Square Garden. Double (DR) or single room (SR) with ensuite bath / WC, self-catered. Shared kitchen as well as internet access is available. Rooms usually have TV and air-conditioning. Average distance from the school: 15 minutes on foot.

Residenz 4 (Upper East 1760): A modern residence located near Central Park offering double rooms (DR) with ensuite bathrooms / WC, refrigerator, microwave and TV. This residence features a fully equipped fitness centre, a games room, a library and washing machines. There are some student lounges and communal kitchens throughout the residence. Average distance from the school: 30 minutes by public transport.

Exam Courses
At our language school in New York - Empire State, we offer the following exam preparation course: preparation for the TOEFL and Cambridge Certificate (FCE):
Please note:
- Your English must be at least at an intermediate level (FCE: B1; TOEFL: B2) to go on the course. Enrolment onto the preparation course is subject to a grading test before the course starts.
- The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week. We recommend you to opt for a flexible flight reservation.
- You can register for the TOEFL exam online. The exam date must be booked 3 months in advance at www.ets.org/toefl
- You must pay the exam fee while in New York. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost.
- Cambridge Certificates: You will find dates of the written papers (papers 1-3) in the table. According to our previous experience, we have found that the oral exams (papers 4-5) mostly take place a week after the end of the course. which is why the prices may include an extra week’s accommodation. As it is possible that the dates may be postponed, we recommend that you opt for a flexible flight reservation.
