New York

From Europe, you can reach New York in about 8 hours. Take a cab from JFK airport to Manhattan and you will see the spectacular skyline of the city. You will be charmed by the breathtaking beauty of the city. It is an amazing feeling to be in New York!

The way to Manhattan leads over one of the most famous bridges of New York City - Brooklyn Bridge. Manhattan is home to the Empire State Building, Broadway, Wall Street and Central Park. Manhattan, surrounded by the East River and Hudson River, is one of the 5 Boroughs and is at the heart of the metropolis. The language school is located in East Village which is close to Greenwich Village, 5th Avenue and Soho, which are the shopping, artist and nightlife districts of the city respectively. 5th Avenue offers trendy boutiques, huge department stores, galleries and fancy furniture stores. The streets in Chinatown are decorated with red Chinese lanterns and the delicious smell of Asian cuisine is always in the air. At dusk, artists start the evening in one of the stylish bars and numerous clubs in Soho or Greenwich Village. The Flatiron Lounge Bar, located on 19th Street, or the Pegu Club, a bar cum restaurant, are currently very popular. New York’s best drinks are served here. The city never sleeps and the colourful lights of the city illuminate the dark. New York has 150 museums; one of them is the MoMA - the Museum of Modern Art. There are approximately 500 galleries, countless theatres, bars, restaurants and clubs. You can visit Harlem where gospel belongs to the everyday life of the people or you can take a subway ride to the Bronx where hip-hop and break dance originated. Do not forget to go on a stroll through Central Park, a visit to the theatre district on Broadway or to have a look at the noble brownstones on Long Island. There is a lot to explore in New York City and it is quite rightfully so that the Big Apple is known to be the city that never sleeps!

Sightseeing in New York

We recommend that you start your sightseeing tour in Manhattan, where there is the Empire State Building, Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge and Ground Zero, which is now home to a memorial for the victims of the September 11th atrocities. From Manhattan you can get to Brooklyn, where the famous Brooklyn Bridge offers a stunning view over the skyline, but the best view over the entire city is definitely the observation platform of the Empire State Building.

New York is home to countless galleries, opera houses, concert halls and museums, as for example the famous exhibition "MoMA" which is now back in New York after being presented in Berlin. The giant Central Park, one of the world's largest city parks, is located in the north of Manhattan. Stressed out New Yorkers relax either on the grass, by its ponds, in the zoo or in the park restaurants. New York’s night life is unique. The city offers something for everyone. You can go on a vernissage today, have a few drinks in one of the most popular bars and then go to a club and dance to salsa, hip-hop, R’n’B or house music.
