Limerick

Limerick is situated on the river Shannon near the picturesque coast of Ireland. It is Ireland’s third largest town with ca. 90,000 inhabitants. It is characterised by historic buildings and a romantic castle surrounded by town walls. Limerick is a very lively student town and very hospitable with various pubs, bars and restaurants. There are various museums and galleries which display Irish as well as international art. Limerick’s location in the heart of the green island of Ireland is ideal for excursions. The capital Dublin, as well as Cork, are within a comfortable distance.

Sightseeing
“Irish Town”, Limerick’s old part of town, is home to most of Limerick’s
historic buildings. Most of these date from the 18th century. Hunt Museum,
a 19th century warehouse, is home to some 2000 pieces of art by famous
19th and 20th century artists, for example some sculptures by Picasso
and Leonardo da Vinci. We also recommend a visit to Limerick City Art
Gallery, which hosts modern exhibitions. Limerick has a very lively music
scene. Various concert halls and pubs offer stages for live performances
by Irish bands. We recommend a weekend excursion to Dublin, Ireland’s
lively capital. Cork, Ireland’s second largest town, is also within easy
distance for a weekend excursion.

Exam Courses
At our language school in Limerick, we offer the following exam preparation courses: IELTS and Cambridge Certificate (FCE, CAE).
Please note:
- You can only take this course if your English is at least at an intermediate level B1. Enrolment onto the preparation course is therefore subject to a grading test before the course starts.
- The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week.
- You can register for the IELTS exam beforehand on the internet. The registration must be done a few weeks beforehand at www.ielts.org, where you can find the registration form and further information.
- You must pay the exam fee while in Limerick. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost.
- Cambridge Certificates: You will find dates of the written papers (papers 1-3) in the table. According to our previous experience, we have found that the oral exams (papers 4-5) mostly take place a week after the end of the course. which is why the prices may include an extra week’s accommodation. As it is possible that the dates may be postponed, we recommend that you opt for a flexible flight reservation.
