Honolulu is on one of the most popular islands of Hawaii, Oahu. It is
one of Hawaii’s eight main islands and famous for its over 200
kilometres of beaches, exciting nightlife and marvellous rain forest.
Honolulu is the capital of the USA’s 50th State and is home to
the financial centre and the airport of Hawaii. Its lively nightlife
can be experienced in various restaurants, clubs and bars. Waikiki is
the centre of Honolulu, it offers a multitude of shopping centres, restaurants
and cafes. Waikiki’s yacht harbour invites visitors to take a walk
along the ocean and experience life in Hawaii. The white beaches are
great for relaxing, swimming, snorkelling and surfing.
The School
Our language school is situated in the centre of Waikiki on the Pacific Coast. Its famous shopping boulevard and fantastic white sandy beaches are only a few minutes by foot.
Lessons take place in a friendly modern building, which is surrounded by palm trees. All 10 classrooms are bright, with modern equipment and air conditioning. There is a student lounge, an internet room and a snack shop. The school offers excellent views of the surrounding mountains. All tutors are native speakers and specialise in teaching a foreign language.
English and Surfing
Our school offers students the possibility to take surfing classes on two afternoons after their language course (standard course). Surfing classes take place on Tuesday and on Thursday from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The surfing equipment will be provided by the surfing school.

Sightseeing on Hawaii
Hawaii is a paradise for sun, sports and nature lovers. The islands offer the most diverse kinds of sports – surfing, snorkelling, sky-diving and fishing. There are some natural marvels such as the partially active volcanoes, as well as fantastic views, for example from Diamond Head. Hawaiian culture and history can be experienced in the Bishop museum in Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, etc. And don’t forget the beautiful beaches for relaxing.
The beauty of the city and its environment can be admired from Aloha Tower. Besides Waikiki, we recommend that you visit the various parts of town with their different architectural styles, e.g. China Town. We also recommend that you visit the summit of Diamond Head, which is only a 30 minute walk from the school. The views over the south coast of Oahu with its long beaches and over the neighbouring islands are indescribable.
One of the most famous beaches on Hawaii, Waikiki beach, is ideal for relaxing, sunbathing, surfing and swimming. Oahu’s east coast is home to Hanauma Bay, a paradise for divers with thousands of multicoloured fish. Oahu’s north is home to the legendary Waimea Bay, a paradise for surfing. Oahu also has a variety of botanical gardens with rare plants, e.g. the Foster Botanical Garden in Honolulu. Hoolmaluhia Park, a natural resort in Oahu, is ideal for hiking and camping.
The neighbour islands of Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, Kauai, Lanai and Molokai can be reached by plane or boat. The volcanic origin of Hawaii can be found all over the islands. Most of Hawaii’s volcanoes are considered to be peaceful and are easily accessible, e.g. in the Hawaii Volcanoes national park where Kilauea, Hawaii’s most active volcano, can be observed.
Accommodation
Family: Single room (SR) with full board (FB). Average
distance from the school: 50 minutes by
public transport.
Residence 1: Accommodation in a single room (SR), with
self catering. Please note that by tradition, only individuals of the
same sex may share a double room. Shared bath/WC, lounges and shared
kitchen. Wireless LAN, TV and washing facilities are provided. Distance
from the school: ca. 15 minutes by public transport. This accommodation
can only be booked for a minimum stay of 3
weeks.

Residence 2: Accommodation in double (DR) or single room (SR) with ensuite bath / WC, air-conditioning, WLAN, TV and refridgerator. Common student lounges and kitchen. Washing machines. The beach is a 5 minutes walk away. Distance from the school: 10 minutes by foot. Double rooms can only be booked by two persons studying and travelling together.

Exam Courses
At our language school in Honolulu, we offer the following exam preparation courses: Preparation for the Cambridge Certificate (FCE, CAE), TOEFL and TOEIC.
Please note:
- You can only take these courses if your English is at intermediate level (FCE: B1; CAE: B2; TOEFL: B1; TOEIC: B1). Enrolment onto the preparation course is subject to a grading test before the course starts.
- The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week.
- You can register for the TOEFL and TOEIC exams beforehand on the internet.
TOEFL: The exam date must be booked at least 3 months in advance at www.ets.org/toefl
TOEIC: Registration for the exam must be completed at least 3 weeks in advance at www.ets.org/toeic - You must pay the exam fee while in Honolulu. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost.
- Cambridge Certificates: You will find dates of the written papers (papers 1-3) in the table. According to our previous experience, we have found that the oral exams (papers 4-5) mostly take place a week after the end of the course. which is why the prices may include an extra week’s accommodation. As it is possible that the dates may be postponed, we recommend that you opt for a flexible flight reservation.
