Brighton, known as ‘London by the Sea’, is one of the most trendy and popular seaside resorts in Great Britain. This university city is well known for its lively and cosmopolitan atmosphere: famous DJs from around the world, contemporary artists and fashion designers use Brighton as their platform.
The old part of town with its small alleyways, street cafés, chic restaurants and art galleries is ideal for shopping and strolling around. In the evening, we recommend a walk along the beach promenade with its countless pubs and restaurants. English in Brighton is an ideal location for learners, who want to combine their studies with lots of sunbathing, shopping, and a lively nightlife.
London is only an hour’s train ride away.
The School
Our language school is located in a beautiful Victorian building in a quiet street in Hove. The blue sea, the beach and the busy city centre are only a few minutes away.
Students come from around the world and create an international atmosphere at the school. Our school building has 15 comfortable and bright classrooms, a small lounge, a modern computer area with free internet as well as a study centre with a library and a language lab and a glass-topped cafeteria. The lovely green garden is ideal for barbeques in the summer.
All teachers are native speakers and specialised in teaching English as a foreign language.

Sightseeing in Brighton
In the last few years, Brighton has developed into a student city with a great nightlife. The Palace Pier is Brighton’s most famous place of interest – a fair with many stalls and attractions. We recommend a visit to the artists’ quarter, where you can buy some unique pieces of art: prints, paintings, mirrors and cast-iron beds – the perfect place for souvenirs!
Brighton & Hove is one of the best places for shopping: big shopping
centres with all the well-known stores, as well as, hundreds of small specialist
shops.
The Lanes are famous for their small alleyways, which are home to antique shops,
jewellers and designer shops. Don’t forget to visit the trendy North Lanes
for that special gift!
History lovers will find a visit to the Royal Pavilion very interesting, a palace
that looks like the Taj Mahal. It is open daily and there are guided tours available.
Windsurfing, jet-skiing or wild water rafting is available for sports fans. There are also
the cricket and football matches, horseracing or greyhound racing. Flying
kites, golf, mountain biking and hiking are just some of the activities available
to visitors in Brighton. At the end of a long day, you can visit one of the 400 international restaurants.
Accommodation
Family: Single (SR) or double room (DR) with breakfast (B&B) or half board (HB). Single rooms with ensuite bathroom can be booked for an extra charge. Average distance to the school: 40 minutes by public transport. Double rooms can only be booked by 2 people booking and travelling together.
Shared school-flat (student house): Single room (SR) in a student house that is shared with other students from the school. Shared bathroom and shared kitchen. Average distance from the school: app. 15 minutes by foot. The minimum age for shared school-flat accomodation is 18 years.

Exam Courses
At our language school in Brighton, we offer the following exam preparation courses: preparation for the Cambridge Certificate (FCE, CAE), TOEFL, TOEIC und IELTS exams.
Please note:
- You must be at an intermediate language level (FCE: B2; CAE: C1; IELTS: B1; TOEFL: B1; TOEIC: B1). Enrolment onto the course is subject to a grading test before the course starts.
- The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week.
- You can register for the TOEFL, TOEIC and IELTS exams a few weeks beforehand on the internet.
- IELTS: Exam registration should be completed a few weeks beforehand at www.ielts.org, where you can find the application form as well as further information.
TOEFL: Examinations must be booked online and 3 months in advance at www.ets.org/toefl
TOEIC: Exam registration must be completed at least 3 weeks beforehand at www.ets.org/toiec - You must pay the exam fee while in Brighton. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost.
- Cambridge Certificates: You will find the dates of the written papers (papers 1-3) in the table. According to past experience, the oral exams (papers 4-5) can take place up to a week after the end of the course, which is why the prices may include an extra week’s accommodation. As it is possible that the dates may be postponed, we recommend that you opt for a flexible flight reservation.
