Dublin

Dublin is a young, lively and cosmopolitan town with a lot of culture! The choice of museums, art galleries and theatres is excellent: choose between history or art, architecture or sports, modern or classical periods, comedies or musicals. The locals are known to be humorous and open-minded, and great lovers of their pubs, galleries, shops and good whiskey!
Shopping trips are a great experience in Dublin – we recommend you visit the busy Grafton Street with its mixture of shops, restaurants and street musicians or Dawson Street with its large and small book shops. Dublin has some traditional or chic restaurants for you to spend your evenings. You will be able to choose from seafood soup, oysters, smoked salmon, lamb or sweet apple cake, which all taste great with a pint of world-famous Guinness ale, which is brewed in Dublin itself. If you take a guided tour through the brewery, a pint of this popular ale is free! Afterwards, we recommend you visit one of the various cinemas, bars or clubs. Rock, pop, soul, jazz or punk, live concerts or discos – Dublin is great for partying!

Sightseeing in Dublin

Dublin, the capital of Ireland, has a rich history which can be seen in its historic buildings. Custom House is probably the most beautiful building in Dublin with its long historical and social background. The oldest building in Dublin is the Cathedral which houses some unique manuscripts, pieces of art and some spectacular pieces of gold and silver. It also hosts concerts, presentations and discussion groups. A highlight is also the Guinness Storehouse.
For all those interested in culture, it is well worth buying a "Dublin Pass", which allows free entry into more than 30 attractions and cultural sites.

Please note:

  • To take part in this course, your English must be at an upper intermediate level (B2). Enrolment on this course is subject to a grading test before the course starts.
  • The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week.
  • You can now register for the FCE exam in advance on the internet. Exam registration must be done 3 months in advance at the latest.
  • You must pay the exam fee while in Dublin. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost.
  • Cambridge Certificates: You will find dates of the written papers (papers 1-3) in the table. According to our previous experience, we have found that the oral exams (papers 4-5) mostly take place a week after the end of the course. which is why the prices may include an extra week’s accommodation. As it is possible that the dates may be postponed, we recommend that you opt for a flexible flight reservation.
