The metropolitan city of Sydney is famous for its Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Tourists love Sydney for its beautiful beaches and warm climate, as well as its cosmopolitan atmosphere, busy nightlife and a multitude of cultural institutions. Sydney is a typically Australian city and yet very international - a city with many interesting sides to it!

The school

Our school gives you the feeling of being in Australia straight away: the school team and tutors have a great way of making their course participants from around the world experience the Australian way of life.
The language school is located in a modern, air-conditioned multi-storey building in the centre of Sydney. It is near various shopping centres, cafés, restaurants and nightclubs.

Sydney Harbour with its famous Opera House is not far from the school. The beautiful Bondi and Manly beaches are within easy reach by public transport or by ferry.
Our school has air-conditioned classrooms. There is a common area with a table tennis table, vending machines, a TV and a piano; a large library with a qualified librarian and 2 computer rooms with wireless internet access and 36 19-inch flat screen computers. Course participants come from around world. All tutors are qualified in teaching English as a foreign language. The school employs some of the best tutors in Australia. Our school is also very popular for long-term courses for 12 weeks and longer.

Sightseeing in Sydney

Sydney’s most famous attraction has got to be the Sydney Opera House, which was opened in 1973 and has since been the most photographed building in Sydney. Guided tours are available.

We recommend a visit to Pylon Tower which is home to a fascinating exhibition on the history of Sydney Harbour Bridge. Open daily.
The Rock, Sydney’s ‘Outdoor Museum’, is the oldest part of the town and home to various cafes, restaurants and shops.

We also recommend a visit to Darling Harbour with the Chinese Garden of Friendship. The garden, with its lagoons, lotus plants and fish, was created as a present to Sydney by its twin town Guandong.
Strand Arcade, named after its famous model in London, is Sydney’s centre for fashion and design. It is home to the most exclusive designer labels and jewellers, beauty salons and restaurants.
For an exciting night out we recommend a visit to Kings Cross, Sydney’s former red light district, to try out its many excellent restaurants and nightclubs.

Accommodation

Family: Single room (SR) with half board (HB) in a friendly host family. Average distance from the school: 40 minutes by public transport.

Residence: Self-catered single (SR) or double room (DR). The residence is equipped with TV, shared bathroom/WC, shared kitchen and Internet access. Distance from the school: ca. 15 minutes by public transport.
If booking a double room, please let us know whether you would like to book a double bed or two single beds in the room.

Hostel: Self-catered double (DR) or dormitories (D) . Shared bathroom/WC, lounge with internet access, 24-hour security, shared kitchen. Distance from the school: ca. 25 minutes by public transport.

Exam Courses

At our language school in Sydney - Central, we offer the following exam preparation courses: Preparation for the Cambridge Certificate (FCE, CAE) and IELTS.

Please note:

• You can only take the courses if your English is at intermediate level (FCE: B2; CAE: B2; IELTS: B1). Enrolment on the preparation course is subject to a grading test before the course starts.
• The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week.
• You can complete your IELTS exam registration beforehand on the internet at www.ielts.org, where you can find the application form and further information.
• You must pay the exam fee while in Sydney. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost.
• Cambridge Certificates: You will find dates of the written papers (papers 1-3) in the table. According to our previous experience, we have found that the oral exams (papers 4-5) mostly take place a week after the end of the course. which is why the prices may include an extra week’s accommodation. As it is possible that the dates may be postponed, we recommend that you opt for a flexible flight reservation.
