Cairns is a paradise for divers and backpackers. It is home to one of
the most beautiful coral reefs ever: the Great Barrier Reef. There are several
licensed diving schools and students can gain their diving licence within
a few days: First, you will practice in a swimming-pool and then proceed
to the open sea. The underwater life, including giant sea turtles, orange clownfish, anenomes and sea horses, is most colourful and beautiful. Go kayaking or rafting along the wild rivers in Daintree Forest, and don't forget to try some of the famous Australian wines!
For the best sightseeing in Cairns and its surroundings, we recommend travelling either with the historic train or by Skyrail to Kuranda, where the view across the region is indescribable. Other attractions include the Atherton Tablelands, whitewater rafting, skydiving, bathing in the crystal clear seas and exploring the rainforest.
The School
The modern language school is at the heart of Cairns city centre. The school has 24 large and well-lit classrooms with air-conditioning, as well as 28 computers, all with access to the internet, which can be used by course participants free of charge. There are also cassette and CD players, a television and DVD players. All teachers are specially trained to teach English as a foreign language.
English and Diving
Cairns is the gateway to the diver's paradise of the Great Barrier Reef. For the course "English and Diving" the language course will take place in the morning. The diving lessons will be held on 5 consecutive days from Thursday to Monday. Three days are spent on a boat directly at the Great Barrier Reef. To participate in this course your knowledge of English must at least be at least at an intermediate level (B1). A medical diving examination by an Australian doctor is required for this course. The diving medical costs 55 AUD and is not included in the price. All diving equipment will be provided by the diving school.

Exam Courses
At our language school in Cairns, we offer exam preparation courses: Preparation for the Cambridge Certificate (FCE, CAE, CPE), as well as for IELTS.
Please note:
- You must be at an intermediate level (B1) for the exam courses (FCE: B2; CAE: B2; CPE: C1; IELTS: B1). Enrolment is subject to a grading test before the course starts.
- The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week.
- You can complete your IELTS exam registration beforehand on the internet at www.ielts.org, where you can find the application form and further information.
- You must pay the exam fee while in Cairns. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost.
- Cambridge Certificates: You will find the dates of the written papers (papers 1-3) in the table. According to past experience, the oral exams (papers 4-5) can take place up to a week after the end of the course, which is why the prices may include an extra week’s accommodation. As it is possible that the dates may be postponed, we recommend that you opt for a flexible flight reservation.
