Alicante

Alicante is situated on the sun-drenched Costa Blanca. In Roman times, the city was known as the 'City of Light', as its sunshine made everything sparkle. Alicante is on a beautiful sandy beach and you can reach other beaches very easily by bus. The nightlife is especially geared towards Spanish students, who fill the innumerable bars until sunrise. Alicante is not a centre of mass tourism and almost everything in the town is within walking distance. Study Spanish in this friendly town and delve into Alicante's character.

The school

The language school is located in the centre of Alicante near the market, Mercardo Central, as well as many small cafes and restaurants. The sandy beach is only half a mile away from the school. The 6 classrooms are fully-functional and air conditioned. The school has a small library, where you can borrow Spanish books, videos and DVDs. All tutors are qualified and enjoy teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Adults of all levels learn Spanish at this school.

Sightseeing in Alicante

Alicante is situated on Spain’s Costa Blanca. It has a very rich historical background. We recommend that you begin your sightseeing trip on the Tossal de Manises, a small hill where you can still find ruins of Lucentum, the first settlement of Alicante. The Ibero-Roman town is an important archaeological treasure and is now a protected national monument. You will see ruins of buildings, pavements and thermal baths.
The Santa Barbara castle is one of the largest medieval castles in Spain. Its grounds stretch out over the mountain Benacantil. Historians have found relics of the bronze age as well as from Iberian and Roman settlements. You can walk up to the castle or use a lift which leads up from a tunnel behind Postiguet beach.
The harbour is one of the most attractive places for water sports in the Mediterranean. The Nauticlub, with its 297 mooring sites, offers everything – fishing, diving, waterskiing, windsurfing, etc.

We recommend a visit to Tabarca Island, which is situated 11 sea miles off Alicante. It is in the shape of a guitar and is a real holiday paradise with its crystal clear water and excellent cuisine, famous for its fish and seafood dishes. Ships to Tabarca leave Alicante on a daily basis and take about 45 minutes.

Shared school-flat: Course participants share a functional flat with bath, WC, kitchen and living room. You can book double (DR) or single rooms (SR). Average distance from the school: 20 minutes on foot.

Family: Choice of double (DR) or single room (SR) with half board (HB) or full board (FB). Average distance from the school: 15 minutes on foot or by public transport.

All types of accommodation: Double rooms can only be booked by 2 people booking and travelling together.

You can only take the D.E.L.E. course in Alicante from level A1 (elementary) and above. Enrolment onto this course is therefore subject to a grading test before the course starts.
The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week.
You must pay the exam fee while in Alicante. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost.
