Flores
The small peninsula Flores is located in the north of Guatemala. The island, which is surrounded by the lake Petén Itzá, is home to 20,000 inhabitants. A causeway connects the island with the mainland. Guests are given a hearty welcome. The townscape is adorned with colourful houses from colonial times, small shops and cafés. The rainforest, nearby, is home to numerous exotic creatures. The indigenous city San Cristobal is only a few kilometres away. At the market, local women sell hand-carved articles, pottery, fruits and vegetables. The giant ancient Mayan city of Tikal is only 45 miles away from Flores. From here you will have a magnificent view of the green rainforest and the excavated temples and pyramids of the ancient Mayan culture. Lots of historical sites are still waiting to be found and excavated. This is also one of the reasons, why the director of our language school, a passionate archaeologist, has chosen this location to establish a language school together with us. The school Our language school is located in the city centre of Flores. The lake is only a few walking minutes away. The school, a two-storey building of colonial times, has two large, friendly and colourful classrooms. Due to its central location, course participants will be 'in the thick of it' and will be able to enjoy the Central American way of life right after their language lessons. All of our language tutors are qualified, native speakers, who have several years of experience in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Brief information
