Kaliningrad is a beautiful green town on the River Pregel. The town was built by the Crusaders in the 13th century. Until 1945, it was the capital of East Prussia, and was named Königsberg. In 1945 it was re-named Kaliningrad. Its history is evident in its architecture: a mixture of Russian and Prussian style castles, gates and parks.

Today, the birthplace of the famous philosopher Immanuel Kant is home to over 400, 000 residents and is situated between Poland and Lithuania as a flourishing enclave and economic centre of Russia. Kaliningrad combines its present, typically Russian architecture, with a hint of its East Prussian past rigour and culture. This city is known for its wide streets with smalls bars and restaurants, green spaces, old gateways, numerous museums, famous theatres and renowned universities, which are becoming ever popular with international students.

Our school is situated in a green and quiet part of town, not far from the centre. It has a lounge as well as a fully equipped kitchen. All classrooms are bright and welcoming. Our tutors are well qualified, specialise in teaching Russian as a foreign language and offer a fresh and topical curriculum. The atmosphere at the school is very friendly.

Very friendly school. All families are very welcoming and hospitable.

Kaliningrad has a lot to offer. Besides its great architecture, there are various museums such as the region’s Museum for History and Art, or the Bernstein museum housing a large collection of gems. The Kaliningrad art gallery has 8 exhibition halls. The Ocean Museum informs visitors about the latest technology in oceanography.
The botanical garden is open all year round and is home to over 3000 plants. Kaliningrad Zoo is well worth visiting, as it is home to more than 400 species of animals and 150 rare plants. It celebrated its centenary in 1996. Kaliningrad’s nightlife is very lively, with locals and tourists alike meeting in one of the many restaurants to sample the local delicacies, or in the bars, to try the town's very own vodka 'Stary Kenigsberg'.
