Munich

Bavaria is beautiful. The baroque capital of Bavaria is situated near to the Alps, and is blessed with fine weather.
There is a lot to see and experience in Munich: countless museums, exhibitions, churches and castles, cafes, restaurants and bars. The English garden is the most extensive area of parkland in any European city. During the hot summer, the citizens of Munich enjoy their cold beer in the idyllic beer gardens. The famous Munich Beer Festival, the 'Oktoberfest', is the largest popular festival in the world. In the winter, we recommend a visit to the beautiful Christmas Market in Marienplatz or an excursion to some of the fabulous ski slopes around Munich.

The school

Our school is situated in the old part of the city, between Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt. The beautiful 17th century building used to be the home of the famous poet Heinrich Heine.

All 8 classrooms are bright and welcoming. Our school has a cafeteria, a library and a computer cluster. The school also has a large garden. The highly qualified and experienced tutors offer a varied programme of study and are always pleased to offer their help. The lessons are well organised and offer an enjoyable learning experience. Course participants come from all over the world.

Sightseeing in Munich

Munich is one of the most popular holiday locations in Germany. It offers a multitude of historical buildings. We recommend a visit to the house of the famous Rococo artist Ignatz Günther. It is now used as a museum where you can see the artist’s living accommodation and workshop. It also hosts various exhibitions.
The Münchner Stadtresidenz is one of the most marvellous castles in Europe. It is made up of Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Classicistic building styles. It contains the Königsbau on Max-Joseph-Platz, the Maximilianische Residenz, the Festsaalbau, the Allerheiligen-Hofkirche, the Marstall as well as the Cuvilliés-Theatre.
We recommend a visit to the famous Münchner Hofbräuhaus which serves around 17,000 pints of beer every day. It was built in the 16th century by Herzog Wilhelm V who ordered the production of beer for the aristocracy. It has only been open to the public since the middle of the 19th century.
Munich’s largest fun fair is the Oktoberfest. It is famous for its rides as well as its huge beer tents. A unique experience.

Munich’s nightlife is fantastic. We recommend you take part in one of the ‘after work parties’, to be found in the Pacha Club. It is also very popular with rich and famous celebrities.
Our school organises excursions to Salzburg, Schloss Neuschwanstein, Augsburg and Ulm.

Please note:

  • Your German will have to be at an upper intermediate level (B2) to go onto these courses. Enrolment is subject to a grading test before the course starts.
  • The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week.
  • You must pay the exam fee while in Munich. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost.
  • According to our previous experience, we have found that the oral exams mostly take place a week after the end of the course. As it is possible that the dates may be postponed, we recommend that you opt for a flexible flight reservation.
