Malta is very sunny and situated between Sicily and Africa. People speak a very high standard of English and you will encounter a mixture of British language and mentality and the Mediterranean way of life. The school

Our school is housed in a typically Maltese style building which has been lovingly renovated. The school is situated in the centre of Sliema, in a quiet street which leads directly on to the beach. Lots of cafes and restaurants are only a few metres from the school.
The atmosphere at the school is very friendly. Course participants are given individual attention and taught by qualified staff. There are courses for all ages.

Sightseeing in Sliema, Malta

Malta’s capital Valletta combines industry, trade and culture in a fascinating way. Valletta is a city of churches and magnificent cathedrals. We also recommend a visit to the Barracca Garden and the Grand Harbour.
One of the most popular attractions is the Blue Grotto which can be visited by boat. We recommend visiting the Blue Grotto in the morning when the sun is mirrored in the sea and lights up the grotto. The Hypogaum in Hal Saflieni is a unique labyrinth of caves. It is one of the oldest known neolithic temples and is part of the cultural treasures protected by UNESCO.

Malta’s nightlife offers something for everybody, from hot clubs to romantic courtyards. Malta offers a variety of theatre performances and concerts, from classics to modern art. Many performances take place in open air settings. The heart of the club scene with international DJs can be found in Paceville and St. Juliens.

Family: Single room (SR) or double room (DR) with breakfast (B&B), half board (HB) or full board (FB). Average distance from the school: 20 minutes by public transport or on foot. In July, single rooms can only be arranged on request, whereas none are available in August.

Our Language & Culture Course in Malta is especially aimed at the older generation. The cultural programme is diverse and offers trips to Valetta or Gozo. Balco Symphony Hostel: This hostel offers single rooms (SR), self catering. The rooms are equipped with a direct telephone line with VOIP technology, TV, telephone sockets for a dial-up internet connection, air-conditioning, a refrigerator, hairdryer and a radio. The hostel offers a kitchen which can be used by hostel guests to prepare meals. The average distance to the school is approximately 15 minutes by foot. This accommodation can only be booked in combination with the school’s transfer service.

Balco Harmony Hostel: The hostel offers double rooms (DR) or dormitories (D), self catering. The ensuite rooms are equipped with a direct telephone line with VOIP technology, TV, telephone sockets for a dial-up internet connection, air-conditioning, a refrigerator, hairdryer and a radio. The hostel offers a kitchen which can be used by hostel guests to prepare meals. The average distance to the school is approximately 10 minutes by foot. Victoria Courts Apartment: Apartments with, depending on the number of persons travelling, one or two bedrooms and a lounge. Each apartment has its own bathroom / WC and kitchen. Only a few metres from the beach. Superior Apartments are on higher floors. Distance to the school: ca. 10 minutes walking or 5 minutes by public transport. This accommodation can only be booked in combination with the school’s transfer service.

Mercury Residence: This Scandinavian style residence has 18 cosily furnished apartments. Guests will share an apartment with other guests and can either stay in a single room (SR) or in a double room (DR). Each apartment has its own bathroom/WC, kitchen as well as a separate living and dining area. Washing machines are available on the ground floor. Average distance to the school: 10 minutes walking. This accommodation can only be booked in combination with the school’s transfer service.

Hotel Imperial***: Our recommendation! Beautiful 3 star hotel with swimming-pool and a friendly atmosphere. All rooms with bathroom / WC, air conditioning, telephone, radio and TV. The hotel has an air-conditioned restaurant, a lounge bar, a garden and pool for adults and children. Distance to the school: ca. 8 minutes on foot. The first child (2-12) accompanied by two adults will receive a discount of 50 %.

Hotel Milano Due***: This friendly 3 star hotel is situated directly at the waterside promenade with various cafés, shops and restaurants. All rooms are equipped with bathroom / WC, telephone, radio, TV and minibar. Very central location. Children (3-13) accompanied by two adults will receive a discount of 50%, children under 2 years travel free. Average distance to the school: 5 minutes by walk.

Hotel New Tower Palace***: The New Tower Palace Hotel is located directly on Sliema's popular beach promenade only 10 minutes away from the city centre with many cafés, bars and shopping facilities. The Victoria Hotel****: The Victoria Hotel is located close to the waterside promenade in the city centre with various shops, bars and restaurants. Individually furnished rooms are equipped with air conditioning, bathroom / WC, telephone, radio, TV and minibar. The first child, 2 up to 12 years of age, accompanied by two adults will travel for free (B&B), the second child will receive a discount of 50% (B&B). Average distance to the school: 3 minutes on foot.

The Palace Hotel*****: This 5 star hotel is one of the most exclusive in Malta. Rooms are luxurious and spacious and are equipped with air conditioning, bathroom/WC, telephone, radio, TV, safe, minibar, room service and internet connection. Exam Courses

At our language school in Sliema, we offer the following exam preparation courses: preparation for the Cambridge Certificate (FCE, CAE, CPE), IELTS and TOEFL.

Please note:

• You must be at an intermediate level in English (FCE: A2; CAE: B2; CPE: C1; IELTS: B1; TOEFL: B1). Enrolment onto the preparation course is subject to a grading test before the start of the course. If the entry level is already higher there will be the possibility to start the course at a later stage.
• The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week.
• You can now register for the TOEFL and IELTS exams online.
  IELTS: You should register a few weeks beforehand at www.ielts.org, where you will find a registration form and further information.
  TOEFL: You should book your exam 3 months in advance at the latest at www.ets.org/toefl
• You must pay the exam fee while in Sliema. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost.
• Cambridge Certificates: You will find dates of the written papers (papers 1-3) in the table. According to our previous experience, we have found that the oral exams (papers 4-5) mostly take place a week after the end of the course. which is why the prices may include an extra week’s accommodation. As it is possible that the dates may be postponed, we recommend that you opt for a flexible flight reservation.
