This clean city on Lake Ontario is home to 4 million people from over 100 different ethnic groups.
The city is characterised by architectural, cultural, and historical influences from around the world. It offers extravagent boutiques, numerous restaurants and unbelieveable shopping possibilities. Of course, you will also be able to try a wide variety of the wonderful tasty food in the various areas in the city, including China Town, Little Italy and Greek Town.
Toronto has won several cultural prizes and is a truly cosmopolitan city, known as the "New York of the North".

The school

Our school is located in the heart of the city. The historic building was built in the 19th century and was the home to important politicians. Since 1985 the building served as an art gallery until it was rebuilt as a language school. 'Blake Mansion' now offers 18 friendly and modern classrooms, a cafeteria and a computer room. All tutors are highly qualified and specialise in teaching English as a foreign language and are always on hand to give advice, be it related to language learning or what you can do in Toronto. The Lake Ontario can be reached in only 20 minutes by public transport.

Sightseeing in Toronto

Famous for its CN-Tower, the highest free-standing building in the world, Toronto is located on Lake Ontario in the South-East of Canada.
The Rogers Center, formally the Sky Dome, was opened in 1989, and is the home of the Blue Jays Baseball team and the Argonauts Football team. It is the only sports arena in the world that has a fully retractablle roof, and possesses the largest video board in the world.
The Distillery Historic District is Toronto’s centre of arts, culture and entertainment. We recommend a walk around the Distillery so you can discover the arts galleries, shops and cares.

The Plaza Flamingo is Toronto’s ultimate Diner and Show attraction. Feel the rhythm of the dancers, singers and guitar players, and enjoy one of the tasty meals available.
The Stage Theatre is Toronto’s most modern Comedy Theatre. Before the show, we recommend a visit to Leoni’s Italian Kitchen.

The Niagara Falls, meaning "thundering water", are not far from Toronto either and we strongly recommend a visit.

Accommodation

Family: Single room (SR) or double room (DR) with full board (FB). Average distance to the school: 35 minutes by public transport. A double room can only be booked by two persons booking and travelling together.

Shared school-flat (Student House): Single room (SR), self-catering with shared bathroom/WC , kitchen and WiFi in a student house together with other course participants. Average distance from the school: 2 minutes on foot. Minimum age is 18 years. Minimum stay: 4 weeks.

Please note:

• You can only take the courses if your English is at intermediate level (FCE: B2;TOEFL: A2; TOEIC: A2)). Enrolment on a preparation course is subject to a grading test before the course starts.
• The exams normally take place in the last week of the course, therefore we can only offer limited teaching in that week.
• You can now register for the exams online.
  TOEFL: You should book your exam 3 months in advance at the latest at www.ets.org/toefl
  TOEIC: Registration for the exam must be completed at least 3 weeks in advance at www.ets.org/toeic
• You must pay the exam fee while in Toronto. Please consult the table regarding how much the exam fee will cost.
• Cambridge Certificates: You will find dates of the written papers (papers 1-3) in the table. According to our previous experience, we have found that the oral exams (papers 4-5) mostly take place a week after the end of the course. which is why the prices may include an extra week’s accommodation. As it is possible that the dates may be postponed, we recommend that you opt for a flexible flight reservation.
