Montreal, in the bilingual Quebec region, is one of the biggest cultural melting pots in Canada. It is beautiful
at any time of the year – the spring and summer offer music, film,
arts, cultural and sports festivals; the autumn is ideal for hiking and
mountain climbing; and the winter offers a paradise for snowboarding
and skiing. Montreal in the snow looks like a fairytale city.
The French settled here and called the “kingly mountain” towering above them, “Montréal”. Now, it is home to a variety of nationalities, making it the second largest metropole in Canada, with 3.4 million inhabitants.
The Chinese quarter of the city, with its small restaurants sporting paper lanterns and emitting wafts of star-anise and cumin, or the Latin-American quarter, with its spirited inhabitants, are obvious signs of the multicultural character of the city.
Underground, you will find a completely different ‘quarter’, 18 miles full of boutiques, shops and restaurants, all inter-connected so that unpleasant weather doesn’t dampen your shopping spirits!
East of the Mont-Royal mountain, artists have settled in the Plateau Mont-Royal area, with its village-like charm and excellent restaurants.

Over the cobble stone pavements in Old Montreal, horse-drawn carriages are still in use. The neo-gothic style Notre-Dame Basilica and the old harbour with its museums are to be found here. From the harbour, experience the beautiful view across to the nearby islands of Saint Île Notre-Dame und Île Sant-Hélène.The green city of Montreal is a cultural metropolis: it is home to various theatres, cafes, restaurants and a very lively nightlife.
Tuition can be booked for English or for French. It is also possible to learn both languages on one course.

Our school is situated in the heart of town, on Sherbrooke Street. The school
is located in the "Golden Mile" district, near the Montreal Museum of Fine
Arts and the Montreal Mountain Park. There are
various
shops, cafes and art galeries. It is also near
the metro and bus station.
The language school is accommodated in a modern, air-conditioned multi-storey
building. The school is equipped with 10 modern
classrooms as well as a computer area, a kitchen, a Student Lounge and a small
libary. All tutors are very friendly
and helpful and they will encourage students to
make the most of their learning experience. The tutors specialise in teaching
English and French as a foreign language.

Montreal is famous for its museums, parks and clubs. We recommend a
visit to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts which has collections of ethnographic
objects and paintings from the 19th century, the entry for which is free.
The Notre Dame Basilica, which is nothing like the Cathedral of the same name in Paris, is home to a rich collection of paintings, statues
and altar pieces. Its bell, the Gros Bourdon, is the biggest bell in the world.
There are various other churches in Montreal well worth a visit.

Mount Royal is a perfect finishing point for an excursion as it offers beautiful
views of the town, as far as the river and the mountains. Especially in the
Summer, it is ideal for picnics, but the town centre with its many restaurants
is not far either.
We strongly recommend a visit to the Underground City. It is a city up to 10 metres
below Montreal and the buildings are joined by underground alleyways. You will
find all kinds of shops, restaurants, cinemas, hotels and theatreshere. It is especially suitable for shopping during the Winter which can be
very cold in Montreal.
Our school organises excursions to Quebec City as well as weekend skiing trips.
