You were a child when Britain “never had it so good” under Macmillan,
you spent your youth in the colourful decade of the 1970’s: mini-skirts,
ABBA,  as well as the 3-day week of Heath’s government
and the rise of punk rock. At the turn of the 90’s, your children
were watching Blue Peter.

Do you remember? At university, The Sex Pistols were singing ‘God Save the Queen’, there was the Winter of Discontent and the arrival of Margaret Thatcher. With Maggie, came the miners’ strikes, the ‘Hand of God’, Spandau Ballet and Duran Duran as well as the rise of the Haçienda in ‘Madchester’. By the time she had left office, you were at the peak of your professional career. And now, it seems as if it all just happened yesterday and at around 50 years old, you feel young and mature, if more inclined towards cultural activities. You would like to see the world with educated people of the same age and learn languages. You are interested by how other people live their lives. You would also like to understand and speak a different language, for example brush up on your French that you learnt at school, go to Spain for the winter or improve your few words of Italian. You do not mind spending a bit of money on luxury items. You particularly like to drink wine, which inspires to you to discuss philosophical matters.
You expect impeccable organisation, top-quality accommodation. You are interested in the culture of others and in the way other people live. You want to meet educated people, who think just like you.

Language and Culture Courses

We offer over 50 courses in Malta, Dublin, Málaga, Salerno, Rom, Nerja, Lyon, , Chambéry and many more. The courses have small learning groups, where you can learn amongst students of the same age and educational background as well as from different countries so that you can broaden your knowledge effectively. Our recreational programme is comprehensive and entails activities such as communal cooking or film nights in the target language and shopping trips to local markets, as well as days out and sight-seeing tours. If the age of participants is not an issue, for example if 20 year olds inspire rather than bother you, you can apply for one of our standard language courses.

Malta

You will be taught in groups of 6, at most, which allows for an intensive learning programme. Our recreational programme is diverse and comprises trips to Valetta, Tarxien or to Gozo. You can request accommodation in one of the hotels, which are listed on our website. Transfers to and from the airport are included in the price.

Dublin

Our language & culture course to Dublin is especially designed for senior students. You will study English together with students of your age. The activity programme is diverse and offers different trips and visits to theatres, castles, a whiskey distillery and much more. Students will be accommodated in a single room (SR) on half board (HB) in a friendly host family. Please call us for more information, we'll be happy to assist you.

Edinburgh

Our cultural trips to Edinburgh are particularly aimed at participants over 50. Together with language learners from different countries and your age group, you will learn English and expand your knowledge with our varied activity programme. Accommodation is with a host family in a single (SR) or double room (DR) with half board (HB) and full board (FB) at the weekends. Alternatively you can book a self-catered single (SR) or double room (DR) in one of our residences.

Málaga

At our language school with a pool by the sea, you will be taught in small groups. Our recreational programme comprises activities such as cooking evenings or shopping trips. We can also arrange visits to the theatre or to museums. You can stay in a single or double room, either with a host family, in a holiday apartment or a villa with a pool, which is only a few minutes walk away from the school.

Nerja

You will be taught in small groups with maximum 8 participants. The recreational programme which accompanies the language course offers e.g. cooking classes, dance lessons or common visits to the cinema. You can either stay with a host family, in a hostel or in a flat shared with other course participants.

Madrid

Our language and culture course in Madrid is particularly aimed at participants over the age of 50. Together with adults from different countries and in your age group, you can learn Spanish and expand your knowledge. In Madrid we are offering two language and culture programmes: Art or Gourmet. The activity programme Art offers three museum visits per week in the afternoon. The Gourmet option offers restaurant and tapas bar visits to get to know the Spanish cuisine. You will be accommodated either in a host family in a single (SR) or double room (DR) with breakfast (B&B), in a self-catered single room (SR) in a shared flat, in a self-catered single (SR) or double room (DR) in a residence or in a hostel.

Denia

Our culture course in Denia is particularly aimed at participants over the age of 50. Together with adults from different countries and in your age group, you can learn Spanish and expand your knowledge, whilst enjoying our diverse activities programme. You will be accommodated either by a host family in a single room (SR) with half board (HB), in a single room (SR) in a studio, or in an apartment with a double room (DR) for people travelling together. Both the studio and apartment have their own bathroom and kitchenette, and in the complex surrounding both these accommodations there is a swimming pool. The beach is just 50m away. Average distance from school: 15 minutes by public transport. Please note that double rooms can only be booked by 2 people booking and travelling together.

Rome

You will be taught in small groups at our language school in Rome. The school in Rome is in the centrally-located and elegant art nouveau quarter of the city. There is also an attractive recreational programme which accompanies the language course. We can offer you sight-seeing tours of Rome, day trips during the weekend, Italian cooking and viticulture classes, as well as visits to cultural places of interest. You can either stay with a host family, in a flat share or in a 2 star hotel.

Salerno

Our school is one of the most modern and most beautiful language schools in Italy. It is situated in an old elegant town house in the centre of the city which is near the beach. Our activity programme is diverse and offers for example cooking lessons, city walks, excursions to companies which produce wine, olive oil, Mozzarella or Limoncello. You will be accommodated in homestay families.

Lyon

The language course at our school is held in groups of maximum 12 students. Students study French with fellow students of a similar age group from around the world. The recreational programme which accompanies the language course offers for example museum visits and city walks. You will be accommodated in homestay families or in a studio in a single (SR) or double room (DR).

Our Language and Culture Course trips to Nice are particularly aimed at senior course participants. Together with language learners from different countries and your age group, you will learn French and expand your knowledge with our varied activity programme. Accommodation is with a host family in a single room (SR) with half board (HB). Alternatively, a single room (SR) with breakfast (B&B) in a friendly hotel in Nice can also be booked.

Chambéry

You will study French together with students of your age. The language & culture course can be booked as a 1-week course or a 2-week course. The activity programme is diverse and offers trips to Geneva or Chamonix. Students will be accommodated in a studio in the city centre or in homestay families.
